Lisa Garza Aprons to Debut at Neiman Marcus Northpark in Dallas TX

Love her or hate her, Lisa Garza certainly knows how wear an apron!  I enjoyed watching Lisa in “Next Food Network Star” season four, although she drove my husband crazy.  =)  But I knew we’d be seeing more of this trend-setter, even though she didn’t win.

The Dallas-based custom apron designer and celebrity chef, Lisa Garza, will debut her vintage inspired apron collection, Couture Caviar, at Neiman Marcus Northpark during Incircle. The apron collection will be on display in Gift Galleries, Level Three for 2 weeks.

An exclusive launch party and social soiree on April 13 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. will take place at Neiman Marcus with personal appearance by Lisa Garza. Enjoy a tipsy Arnold Palmer (Lisa’s Signature Cocktail) and light-bites…all inspired by the chef herself. “Couture Caviar is inspired by my vintage collection dating back to the 1800’s.” says Garza. “My first apron was made for me by my Dutch great-grandmother, embellished with her own handmade lace. Cotton is for cooking, cocktail aprons are for hosting in style.”

In 2008 Food Network executives spotted a trend, when Dallas, Texas native Lisa Garza appeared on the highest ranked show in the channel’s history, “The Next Food Network Star” Season Four. Before long, producers began giving more camera-time to Lisa and her “skill and expertise” earned her the position of the last woman standing. Lisa Garza attracted viewers in the thousands with her intensity in the kitchen, raw emotions, artistry, couture fashion and undeniable intrigue. In fact, after several episodes on air, “The Next Food Network Star” reached new heights in the Summer of 2008, as audiences discovered this remarkable young woman with culinary knowledge beyond her years who dared to challenge America not to “dummy down food”.

Home entertainment maven Martha Stewart was quoted saying “Lisa understands the need for good, fresh healthy food…and has the depth of knowledge needed to be a food TV host.” Since Lisa’s stint on “The Next Food Network Star” she has created a brand of her own, Lisa Garza, Taste Studio. She is the preferred chef for clients such as Carolina Herrera, Oscar De La Renta, Escada, Nordstrom, Puma and Northpark. In 2010 Lisa opened her personal studio in the SouthSide on Lamar Building in Dallas. Her Taste Studio is where she entertains, hosts parties, holds meetings and runs her business. Lisa and her recipes have been featured in Bon Appétit, Texas Monthly, Saga, USA Today, Modern Luxury, Southern Savvy, Dallas Business Journal, The Dallas Morning News, D Magazine and Papercity. Most recently Lisa was on the Spring Cover of La Mode Magazine.

“Charming, skilled, masterful, expert…confidently beaming with radiance and warmth.” – Food Network VP of Programming Bob Tuschman describes Lisa Garza.

Apron of the Week

Ican’t think of a better Christmas gift for the favorite women in your life than an adoable apron. While some still see Aprons as a symbol of domestic drudgery, todays aprons are made from fabulous fabrics and are as well designed as any garment. I wear my aprons all the time – not just for cooking or cleaning - but for holding my phone, ipod, hair tie, gum, and even keys and wallet as I make a quick trip to the store. Today’s Aprons are as much an accessory as any goodie from Manolo Blahnik, Gucci, or Tiffany – and they are much cheaper!

This weeks Apron is from Etsy, one of my favorite addictions (seriously – I can spend HOURS in there!). Happy Holidays Apron has one of THE cutest fabrics, Annie’s Attic has done a great job coordinating fabrics, and of course I ALWAYS love polka dots. Seriously, you should get this one now before I do.
